The Glen I knew

Created by neil 7 years ago
The Glen I knew as child and youth, My earliest memories of Glen would be 11 years old walking to Greenfield secondary school Hyde, we lived no more than 100 yards apart yet seperated by one of the busiest roads in Tameside, Glen lived on Brighton Grove and I lived on the opposite side of Dowson Rd so close and yet so far. I used to see Glen and walk to school and talk to him often. He was a bright child and very quiet and softly spoken, he seemed to lack confidence for the first couple of years as did I. If my memory serves me correct he wanted to be a vet. We must of shared the journey to school and back many times dinner times included. Upon leaving school I used to see him regular and have a natter in a local pub the Sheperds Call, Glen was usually having a drink with his father Sam and going through collage at the time as was I but a seperate collage.
Somewhere around this time came a point we would never meet again, I assume Glen moved away, and I never saw him again for many years until he turned up on Crimewatch UK and I made contact through Friends Reunited and we exchanged a few messages. I would like to express my belated condolences to Audrey and convey that the lovely man you knew also mirrored his childhood and youth.
